100 Million Shoeboxes!

This is the stuff that....celebrates 100 million boxes!

Last night we had the opportunity to attend a celebration concert for Operation Christmas Child to celebrate 100 million boxes.  The concert also included several testimonies of people who have helped collect shoe boxes to be sent around the world. We heard from a Romanina girl who received a shoe box and then two years later was adopted. Evilyn shared that she was chosen to hand deliver the 100th million shoe box. Evilyn started a shoe box club in her local home town and then traveled all over the USA collecting items for the 100th million box.

Sitting in lovely traffic on our way to Orlando :)

                             We finally made it :D                                    Chet with our tickets (;

Mary is the lady singing in the following link. She collected a tractor trailer load of shoeboxes put together by people across the state of West Virgina.

- The beauty of this story really touched my heart, Mary only heard about OCC on the radio for a couple minutes one day and then decided that she could help, so everyday she would get up early in the morning and drive as far as she could and ask people to help... however, they didn't have access to any shoe boxes, so her husband began dumpster diving and collecting as much cardboard as he could.. he then made a shoe box pattern and cut, formed and taped all of their "shoeboxes". They then got people to donate wrapping paper and wrapped all of the boxes! When Mary wanted to go help distrubute the boxes, they tried to discourage her by telling her how unsafe it was... her response was "I have angels all around me, the Spirit of Christ in me, and Jesus sitting at the right hand of God!". This video shows her singing a song that she taught to the OCC workers that they sang to some of the children they passed out the boxes too... Then they shared with us that she has cancer and is fighting for her life... such a beautiful story~ where there is a will for the work of God to be done, there is a way! :)   -Sara

These next two links lead to the African Children's Choir...they are absolutely adorable and love praising God. The first link also includes the flag march that represents all of the countries where shoe boxes have been sent :)

Potty/ Drink break! haha our other best friend Lyndsey was also there! We got to sit with her and her lovely family, who so sweetly saved seats for us! :) <3

I have the privilege of being the oldest girl out of nine cousins.. with four of us being girls :) They met us in Orlando at the concert with my Grammy and Aunts.. They each always want to be the one who gets to walk beside me, hold my hand, etc. They all wanted to hold my hand during the closing prayer, but of course I only have two hands, so they just ended up huddled around me with their sweet little faces resting on my stomach, the above picture is a product of that scenario :) Then while exiting the concert we had to keep a tight hold on them to keep from losing them in the crowd.. so we ended up in a chain with Miss Hannah (who is basically just another cousin ;) ) The picture isn't the greatest, but it will always be a sweet memory :)

And....lets not forget that the sprinklers were on...so we had to walk in the road instead of the sidewalk! -Hannah

Our favorite place for late night food is waffle house, so of course on the way home we had to stop there :) I got a blueberry waffle, and a chocolate chip waffle.. the only terrible thing about them was that my tummy didn't have enough room to eat them all ;) #skinnygirlproblems haha!

My life goal is to sing in the African's Children Choir..and Sara...well her life goal is too eat waffles -Hannah
